Alves took the Saints to the 1997 Grand Final, the rating fell to 1124 in 2001, and it peaked at 1924 during the near-misses of 2009 and 2010 under Lyon. Long rebuilds under Richardson and Ratten followed. Lyon returned in 2023; the Saints finished the 2026 home-and-away season at 1375.
